What is the Community connection service?

As part of the recovery plan for COVID-19 the Ministry of Social Development is investing in the communities to provide connections and direct support to whanau and individuals so they can access information and services in the community.

The support provided will be determined and guided by the needs of the whanau and individuals who have been affected by COVID-19.

What can we support you with?


To identify whanau/individual strengths, needs and set goals


To connect whanau/individuals to appropriate services and information within their community

ADVOCACY and support

To provide advocacy and support throughout the process

Who can access this service?

Anyone affected by covid-19

These are some issues you or your whanau may be experiencing or have experienced due to COVID-19, grief and loss, anxiety, loss of employment, reduced hours, WINZ entitlements, trauma, children not wanting to go to school, mental and physical wellbeing.


Single adults and children of all ages, kaumatua/kuia


Couple with and without children, extended whanau, blended whanau.
